Day 76 (markets)

A Spanish friend of mine (who's the daughter of one of my students) drove me, another Aux, and her friend into the mountains in search of the markets in Alcaucín - a small white mountain village about 30mins drive away. It turns out they were actually by the Puente De Don Manuel, about a 10min drive away from Alcaucín, and we found ourselves in a small marketplace with about 8 stalls surrounded by Germans and Brits. It was very hippie and bought vegan German cakes, homemade moisturiser, and handmade necklaces.

We drove back down to Torre for the Cheese Festival on Paseo Larios where there were stalls sellings goat and sheep cheese as well as cured meats and local wine (1€ a cup).

It was extremely windy that day with dumping waves on the normally tranquil Mare Nostrum (Mediterranean Sea). We went to Berebere, a beach bar, for lunch and had some spicy guacamole and pizza. Overall, a successful day.

Here's a food update:

Migas. Crema de aguacate ('avocado cream'). Pescaíto frito ('fried fish') with potatoes. Sopa de ajo ('garlic soup'). Pisto Malagueño with chips, a sausage, and salad. And fabada - beans with chorizo, morcilla (blood sausage), and tocino (pig).

Notes:

- I also managed to get my booster the other day. I had made an appointment online through the Salud Andalucía app, in the past it hadn't worked, but for some reason, I was eligible; I was in and out within minutes.
